Monotherapy of partial onset seizure w/ or w/o secondary generalization patients. Adjunctive therapy of partial onset, myoclonic & generalized tonic-clonic seizure.
Dosage/Direction for Use
MonotherapyAdult (≥16 yr) 250 mg bid increased to 500 mg bid after 2 wk. Max dose: 1,500 mg bid. Adjunctive therapyAdult & adolescent (≥12 yr) 500 mg bid. Max dose: 1,500 mg bid. Childn 4-15 yr 10 mg/kg/day bid. Max dose: 30 mg/kg/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levetiracetam or other pyrrolidone derivatives.
Special Precautions
Renal & hepatic impairment. Avoid abrupt w/drawal. Do not use tab form in childn <4 yr. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
